Kern Valley Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Vehicle, Drugs, Weapon

Lake Isabella, CA – A Kern Valley Substation deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Lake Isabella Bl and Webb Av, on Thursday April 11th. The driver, Michael Brown (34), was on active probation. Brown was detained by Kern Valley deputies detained and they conducted a probation search at his nearby residence, located on the 2400 block of Cherry Street in Lake Isabella.

This residence was also been deemed uninhabitable or “red tagged” by Kern County Code Compliance. Upon arriving, deputies found a stolen Hyundai sedan parked in front of the residence. Deputies found Enrique Griffin (26), resident of Bakersfield, and an adult female with her child inside the residence. Griffin had an active felony warrant for his arrest. Griffin was found in possession of the key to the stolen vehicle, a large quantity of prescription narcotics, methamphetamine, a large sum of money, and was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Inside of the stolen vehicle, deputies located a loaded .45 semi-auto handgun and ammunition. During a search of Brown’s room, deputies located and seized a .22 caliber handgun, ammunition, and methamphetamine.

Brown was subsequently arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield for: H&S 11366 – Maintaining a drug house
PC 29800 – Convicted felon in possession of a firearm
PC 30305 – Convicted felon in possession of ammunition
H&S 11377(a) – Possession of a controlled substance

Griffin was arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield for:
PC 29800 – Convicted felon in possession of a firearm
PC 30305 – Convicted felon in possession of ammunition
PC 11351 – Possession of narcotic for purpose of sales
PC 496d(a) – Possession of a stolen vehicle
H&S 11377(a) – Possession of a controlled substance
H&S 11550(e) – Under the influence of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm
H&S 11550(a) – Under the influence of a controlled substance
BP 4060 – Possession of a controlled substance without a prescription
