Glennville, CA – The Kern County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad, on April 29th, responded to the Glennville / Woody area for a report of some aged explosives. The explosives were legally obtained several years ago however had aged to the point they were unsafe to move.

After discussing the matter with the property owner, it was determined the material would be burned in place. The Bomb Squad, with the assistance of the Kern County Fire Department, completed a controlled burn of the material. The burn consumed a small wooden shed as expected and no other damage was caused.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone who is in possession of old explosives, that can no longer be used, to contact the Bomb Squad via the Communications Center at (661) 861-3110.
